Danske Commodities inks ten-year UK battery optimisation deal

The article says Danske Commodities has signed a 10-year optimisation agreement for the Windyhill battery energy storage system (BESS) in the UK. Windyhill is a 200 MW / 400 MWh battery project located near Glasgow, Scotland, developed by Revera Energy with backing from Carlyle. It is described as Danske Commodities’ largest battery storage deal so far, and the company says it will use its automated trading and optimisation systems to earn the best returns across UK power markets, including both wholesale electricity trading and grid-support services.

In simple terms, the deal is about making the battery as useful and profitable as possible while also helping the grid handle variable renewable power. Danske Commodities says the battery will provide flexibility by charging, discharging, or staying idle depending on market conditions and system needs. The article also presents this as part of the company’s bigger strategy to expand its battery and flexible-asset portfolio, following earlier storage deals such as the Kvosted project in the Nordics.
