Frenos raises $1.52M seed extension to expand AI-native OT security platform and simulated penetration testing

In brief

AI-native operational technology security company Frenos has raised $1.52 million in a seed extension led by Momenta and Exposition Ventures, with participation from Riptide Ventures, bringing its total funding to $6.4 million. The company plans to expand its customer-success organization for critical-infrastructure and defense clients while increasing investment in AI research and development. Frenos is also launching SAIRA Co-Work, a persistent OT security assistant designed to analyze live digital-twin data and guide investigators through complex security questions using evidence-based findings.

Frenos uses a digital replica of an industrial network to conduct simulated penetration tests without scanning, installing hardware, interrupting production or directly interacting with operational equipment. Its SAIRA reasoning engine models adversary behavior, identifies reachable attack paths, chains vulnerabilities and tactics, and prioritizes weaknesses that could result in operational disruption. In one customer environment, the platform reportedly reduced more than 12,000 vulnerability findings to eight that were genuinely exploitable. Frenos says its annual recurring revenue has increased more than tenfold since early 2025, while its sales pipeline and enterprise customer base have also expanded substantially.
