IBM Infrastructure: Continuous Risk & Compliance

IBM and Trend Micro are teaming up to bring continuous risk and compliance management to IBM infrastructure, especially IBM Z 17 and IBM LinuxONE 5. The vision is a single, AI-driven view over mainframes, midrange systems, cloud, containers, networks, APIs, user behavior, and even unmanaged assets, all feeding into one source of truth for risk and compliance. Built-in AI on the Telum II processor analyzes transactional data in real time, spots anomalies before they escalate, and operates within a quantum-safe, hybrid-cloud-ready design. Trend Micro’s Deep Security extends this protection to mainframes starting with anti-malware, then grows into a broader endpoint security stack with web reputation, firewalling, intrusion prevention, change monitoring, and log inspection, all designed to keep performance and availability intact on mission-critical workloads.
On top of this foundation, Trend Vision One Cyber Risk Exposure Management is planned to add continuous scoring of risk and compliance, mapping vulnerabilities and misconfigurations against standard frameworks and visualizing attack paths to sensitive data, applications, and users. Telemetry from IBM platforms and other environments is funneled into a common data lake where predictive AI correlates events, drives SOC automation, and presents clear dashboards with risk scores, drill-downs, and AI-generated mitigation recommendations. The approach aims to cut alert noise, speed up response, and turn security from reactive incident handling into proactive, measurable risk management, while also supporting sustainability goals through workload consolidation and energy-efficient mainframe platforms. Integration with existing x86 tools, ITSM workflows, and emerging controls for AI and LLM security helps organizations modernize applications and AI workloads on IBM Z and LinuxONE without losing governance or visibility.
