Mitsubishi Electric has announced the acquisition of Nozomi Networks, a company known for its expertise in securing operational technology, IoT, and cyber-physical systems. Under the agreement, Nozomi will become a wholly owned subsidiary but will continue to operate independently, keeping its leadership, engineering teams, research and development hub in Switzerland, and global offices including its headquarters in San Francisco. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of the year, and Nozomi will maintain its existing relationships with customers and partners. This structure is meant to preserve the company’s agility and innovation while giving it the resources of a global industrial leader.
The acquisition is framed as a strategic move to strengthen industrial cybersecurity and resilience at a time of growing digital transformation across critical infrastructure. Mitsubishi Electric plans to leverage Nozomi’s AI-driven threat detection and monitoring technologies alongside its own industrial expertise to build a “one-stop OT security solution.” This will support manufacturers, utilities, and infrastructure operators facing complex cyber risks while also needing to improve efficiency and reliability. The combination is intended to accelerate innovation in OT/IoT security, expand global market reach, and provide integrated solutions that enhance both cybersecurity posture and operational continuity.
