My OT Security Vendor Was Aquired … What Should I Do?

When an OT security vendor is acquired, the impact on customers and prospects usually unfolds slowly, making it more of a three-year consideration than an immediate crisis. Existing users should avoid hasty decisions and instead monitor key indicators such as continued product support, the pace of improvements, retention of leadership and talent, and whether the company’s messaging or strategy shifts over time. Checking these factors every six months provides a clearer picture of whether the product remains a strong fit after the acquisition.

For organizations in the middle of selecting a vendor, an acquisition should be treated as one of several decision factors rather than a deal breaker. If two solutions appear equally effective, choosing the one without the uncertainty of an acquisition may be safer. However, if the acquired vendor clearly stands out in functionality or value, it can still be a solid choice, provided buyers remain prepared to reassess in a few years if the acquisition changes the company’s direction.
